# Bring in past WhatsApp chats

> Bring your last six months of WhatsApp Business app chats into the inbox.

Did you keep your number on the WhatsApp Business app when you [connected WhatsApp](https://docs.baza.chat/channels/whatsapp.md#keeping-the-whatsapp-business-app)? Then you can bring your earlier chats into your Baza inbox.

## Bring in past chats

Meta allows this once, within a day of connecting. It works only if chat history sharing was left on in the app while you connected.

Under **Past chats**, the WhatsApp tab shows how many hours you have left.

**1. Open Past chats**

On your assistant's page, open the **WhatsApp** tab and go to **Past
chats**.

**2. Bring them in**

Press **Bring in**, then **Bring them in** to confirm.

**3. Wait a few minutes**

It shows **Waiting for Meta…**, then **Importing** with how far it has got,
then **Imported**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> If it says **Not shared**, chat history sharing was off in the app while you
> connected. Meta won't send your past chats.

## What comes in

* Every one-to-one chat from the last six months in your WhatsApp Business app.
* They arrive in the inbox marked as resolved, so your assistant doesn't answer old messages.
* If a customer has no name in Baza, the name saved in the app fills it in. Baza doesn't keep the rest of your contacts.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Meta can't tell business chats from personal ones, so personal chats come too.
> Everyone on your team who can open the inbox can read them.

## Removing them

Press **Remove** under **Past chats** to delete the imported chats from Baza. Any customer who appears only in those chats is deleted too.

New conversations stay. The chats in the app aren't touched.

Only an owner or admin can bring in or remove past chats.
